Welcome to North Eastern Utah! Home of Elk Park RMNR Rendezvous. Elevation is 8,000 feet. Plan to drink a lot of water. This site is nestled in the Ashley National Forest. There is a lot of dead down firewood to burn. Wood, water, hooters, and dumpsters will be provided on site.
We have several competitions scheduled. Primitive archery, semi-primitive archery, black powder shotgun, daily black powder competition, team shoots, knife & hawk, and maybe others. Plan to pay a one-time fee of $10.00 per person at the gate to compete. We hope this will enable us to award you with trader bucks. There will be horse games and daily seminars.
The rendezvous dates are July 12th thru 20th; but you may come as early as July 9th. There will be a fee of $5.00 per person per day if you arrive before July 12th that is not included in the initial camp fee. No one will be allowed before July 9th, except those approved for the work party. We will allow breakdown and vehicles in on Saturday July 20th at 8:00AM.

Long term camp: No vehicles from 5:00 PM July 14th until 8:00 AM on July 20th. Wagons and teams will be available. Please plan accordingly. If you expect to leave early, stay in short term camp. The gate will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM starting July 12th until July 14th. After that, camp gate will be open only from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Trash dumpster will be available. USE IT! Bring your own garbage bags and a supply of toilet paper. If a little is good, a lot is better. Hooters: anyone caught damaging or trashing them will be removed from camp and be assessed for any damages. These hooters are not garbage disposal units. We cant hold a rendezvous of this size without them, so dont abuse them. No chain saws at anytime. No cutting of live trees. ALL pets must be kept on a lease. This also goes for horse camp. Clean up after your pets whether they are big or small. All drinks in period containers. Keep plastic water containers and coolers covered at all times. When hauling water and ice, cover it up. Cover up anything that is being transported to your camp that is not pre 1840. No Coleman, propane, electric lanterns or flash lights to be visible at anytime. No loaded firearms in camp. Due to insurance coverage as well as permits from the Forest Service, this will be enforced. No serious fighting or any kind of thievery will be tolerated. Parents, you are responsible for the actions of your children. You are responsible for any damages that they may cause, malicious or otherwise, to personal or Federal property. For their safety, keep them off the shooting range and from standing behind horses. Utah state law prohibits underage (21) consumption of alcohol. Anyone providing liquor to a minor will be grounds for expulsion from camp. This includes parents. Boom Boxes will be shot. First aid kits will be in camps marked with medical flags and at the Booshways camps. Each camp must have a shovel and a 5-gallon water bucket with water in it, available at all times. Vehicles parked in unauthorized areas will be towed at the owners expense. |

| Letter from our 2002 Trade Chief | ||||
Traders and Campers: Due to a misunderstanding on the previously written trade letter and a statement included by the booshway, Tom "Red Wing" Hewitt requested to be excused from the responsibilities as trade chief. Glen deeply apologizes for this miscommunication, and hopes to see Tom at this and future rendezvous. As you know, Tom is an influential man and respected by all. He has been a great friend to our family and we will always enjoy visiting with him at rendezvous. Sincerely, First of all, Id like to welcome you all back in Utah. Montana was great and we hope to continue the spirit of Rendezvous here in 2002. Traders Row will be tremendous and that is attributed to you, the traders. Please assist us in keeping it primitive. There is no way that anyone of us will know everything about all trade items, so if there is a doubt, please contact me before the rendezvous, and we can resolve this together. Keeping things straightforward and simple will help all of us. Remember that this is a Nationals Rendezvous and that by being here we should know better than to push the rules of what is acceptable and what is not. Lets work together in creating another memory making Traders Row, and in having a great time at Elk Park. Help us to notify other traders and rendezvousers that due to dry conditions and possible fire restrictions that propane cooking may be required in July. This is just a presumption on our part at this present time, but something to keep in mind and to plan for. Good luck in all your ventures until we meet at Elk Park in July. See you then. Craig "Shotgun" Kirkland
